Day 1

Leave Bangkok in the early morning by plane for Pitsanuloke. In Pisanuloke, visit Wat Phra Srirattana Mahathat, a "living" temple where people go daily to pray. Travel to nearby Sukhothai Thailand's first capital, which flourished during the 13 th and 14 th centuries. Have lunch before continuing to Lampang, where you will enjoy a ride around the city in one of Lampang's famous horse-drawn carriages. Then leave for Chiangmai, arrive in the evening and transfer to hotel.

Day2

After breakfast, take a short trip into the mountains to visit Wat Pra Thad Doi Suthep, a remarkable mountainside temple, and Meo, a hill tribe village. Weekend tours will also visit Phuping Palace, one of the Royal residences, which is open to the public on weekends and public holidays. Eat lunch in a restaurant and return to Chiangmai to visit Wat Chedi Luang (AD 1411), a temple once partially destroyed in an earthquake and now restored, where the Emerald Buddha was once enshrined. Next, go to Wat Phra Singh (AD 1345), a temple decorated with amazing fine carvings, which houses a 1,500 years-old Buddha image. Drive through many parts of Chiangmai, passing residential areas and handsome government buildings. Continue on to Sankampaeng and Borsarng to see Thai craft shops where teakwood carvings, woven silk, lacqureware, silverware and traditional umbrellas are made. Return to Chiangmai for the night.

Day 3

Have a breakfast and travel to a jungle area north of Chiangmai to see elephants at work. On the way back, visit an orchid nursery where you can see some of Chiangmai's famous flowers. Stop at a restaurant for lunch. Depart from Chiangmai in the evening by bus, and arrive in Bangkok early the next morning. Transfer to hotel.
