Chaingmai Chiangrai PE
3 nights at hotel 1 night in coach

Day 1

D epart Bangkok by air-conditioned bus at 8.30 a.m. Arrive Chiangmai in the evening and transfer to hotel.

Day 2

A fter breakfast, take a short trip into the mountains to visit Wat Pra Thad Doi Suthep, a remarkable mountainside temple, and Meo, a hill tribe village. Weekend tours will also visit Phuping Palace, one of the Royal residences, which is open to the public on weekends and public holidays. Eat lunch in a restaurant and return to Chiangmai city to visit Wat Chedi Luang (AD 1411), a temple once partially destroyed in an earthquake and now restored, where the Emerald Buddha was once enshrined. Next, go to Wat Phar Singh (AD 1345), a temple decorated with amazing fine carvings, which houses a 1,500 year-old Buddha image. Drive through many parts of Chiangmai, passing residential areas and handsome government buildings. Continue on to Sankampaeng and Borsarng to see Thai craft shops where teakwood carvings, woven silk, lacqureware, silverware and traditional umbrellas are made. Return to Chiangmai for the night.

Day 3

R ide from Chiangmai to Chiangrai by minibus. Have lunch in Chiangrai. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat trip along the scenic Mae Kok River and visit a Karen hill tribe village. From there, take a one-and-a-half-hour elephant ride to a Yao hill tribe village. Transfer to hotel for the night.

Day 4

A fter breakfast go to Doi Tung, seeing spectacular mountain and jungle scenery en route, to visit an Akha hill tribe village. While in the area, visit the palace which belonged to the King's late mother. Have lunch before proceeding to Maesai on the Mynmar (Burmese) border, inside the "Golden Triangle". Return to Chiangmai. Leave Chiangmai by air-conditioned bus at 7.00 p.m. Snacks and soft drinks will be served. Arrive in Bangkok early the next morning, and transfer to hotel.
